An ongoing threat to the financial freedom of debtors (individuals, families, businesses, municipalities, provinces/states, countries) is the malfunctioning design flaw of usury.

Until the dawn of this 21st Century, few debtors were experiencing sufficient amounts of economic pain to motivate them to more closely study our faltering and failing, orthodox, economic system of debt money.

However, a few awakening debtors were motivated to action in the latter years of the 20th Century. These astute debtors were motivated to pursue a  course of self-imposed research on economic issues not thoroughly  addressed within the walls of our formal, educational institutions.

Many of these motivated debtors focused on the design flaw of usury and its devastating effects on debtors everywhere. The various books and pamphlets published by the pioneering economic researchers paved the way for others to expand the newly acquired knowledge using the high-tech tools of the electronic age.

Back in the early 1980's, John Turmel’s revolutionary research not only exposed the evil and immoral effects of the design flaw of usury, but also offered usury free solutions. These two articles penned by John Turmel ought to be compulsory lessons for every debtor:

John Turmel actually financed the initial development and marketing of the usuryfree, LETS (Local Employment Trading System) software. Indeed, for more than 30 years, John has tirelessly devoted his life to exposing the evils of usury while promoting a usury free lifestyle for everyone on planet earth.

John has been a perennial candidate in election campaigns in Canada since 1979 when he entered his first political campaign. John's intention has been (and still is) to use the political platform available to candidates for political office to re-educate debtors everywhere on (a) the problems attributed to the design flaw of usury - war, violence, poverty, scarcity and lack -  and (b) the solutions as offered by the usury free, community currency movement.

On March 19th, 2012, John Turmel was a candidate in the Toronto-Danforth by-election. This was his 76th election campaign. In recent years, many other debtors have been motivated to come forth and declare themselves to be active usury free creatives dedicated to advancing the new age of usuryfree living. Armed with the tools of social media and other high-tech bells and whistles, these motivated debtors are indeed removing the veneer of tolerance for usury.

Wayne Walton is one highly motivated debtor who earlier in this 21st Century experienced his own epiphany re: the evil and immoral aspects of the design flaw of usury. Now as an active, usury free creative, Wayne has assumed a leadership role in launching Mountain Hours as a usury free community currency in the state of Colorado.
