As
consumers we are being bombarded with requests for donations to duly registered
charitable organizations.
“Charity is
big business in Canada. According to figures released by Statistics Canada,
Canadians donate more than $10.6 billion to more than 80.000 registered
charitable organizations in Canada annually.” – The Ottawa Citizen, page D2,
Saturday, February 1, 2014.
In Canada,
donors in a high marginal tax rate qualify for the highest rate of reduction in
taxes depending on the province of the donor and the type of donation
(property) donated.
How do we
choose which duly registered charitable organization(s) to support?
Many years
ago, I made a decision to support one duly
registered charitable organization - the Family Life Foundation. My choice is
based on the fact that the Family Life Foundation openly supports the usuryfree
community currency movement as part of its mandate.
Why the
Family Life Foundation?
Simply
because the Family Life Foundation is the one duly registered charitable
organization that has been openly supporting the usuryfree community currency
movement since its creation in 1974.
Furthermore,
the Family Life Foundation is run entirely by dedicated volunteers – thereby
having minimal administrative costs. Additionally, the Family Life Foundation is positioned to play a pivotal role
in helping to facilitate the ushering in of the New Age of Usuryfree Living as
we progress into this 21st Century.
From the
website for The Family Life Foundation:
“In January 1974, the Family Life Foundation was incorporated as
a duly registered, charitable organization and is granted the privilege of
issuing receipts for income tax purposes. It commonly supports other groups,
foundations and organizations working to advance family and community values.
The Family Life Foundation is an advocate of the holistic
approach to physical, mental, spiritual and financial health. The Family Life
Foundation is committed to supporting the usuryfree community currency
movement.
The
Family Life Foundation was a supporter of the First Annual UsuryFree Day and
Week. The First Annual UsuryFree Day (November 13th, 2005) was celebrated in
Tamworth, Ontario. The annual UsuryFree Week follows from November 13th to 19th
each year and the Family Life Foundation has continued its support.”
This
year, 2014 will be the 10th anniversary of UsuryFree Day and Week.”
In summary,
SDI entrepreneurs and/or otherwise are invited to likewise make a decision as
part of their ‘annual charitable donation plan’ to donate to the one duly
registered charitable organization that openly supports the usuryfree community
currency movement – the Family Life Foundation.
